The collection contains correspondence, notes, clippings, cards, and programs. The correspondence is mainly to Osborn at Yale from her mother in Evansville, with other letters from her father and brother. Topics include Osborn's academic work and prospects, especially after her father's death in 1924, and her work on an edition of David Garrick's THE LYING VALET. Two letters concern Lane Osborn's political campaign for a superior court judgeship in Evansville, Ind. in 1922. His letter of 11-13-1922 describes his situation as a Roman Catholic candidate, and the part played by the Ku Klux Klan in the campaign.

Osborn, a native of Rockport, Ind., was the daughter of lawyer Lane B. Osborn. By 1919 the family had moved to Evansville, Ind. Osborn earned her A.B. and A.M. degrees in English from Indiana University in 1919 and 1920, and remained there to teach for two years.
